The Pennine Railway Society is a group for railway enthusiasts and is based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Our members are interested in railways, both historic and the modern scene, including beyond the UK. Many of our members are also interested in light rail systems.
We hold social evenings on every first and third Wednesday of the month in Doncaster. We have a full calendar of digital shows and slide shows planned, with plenty of variety for every railway enthusiast. You can find details on our Social Evenings page.
The Society publishes a magazine for members called TRANS PENNINE. The magazine has been published at regular intervals since 1975. We currently produce our magazine four times a year, in March, June, September and December.
Our special events during the year include a photographic competition and a quiz night.
Many of our members enjoy railway photography as a hobby and we have an annual digital image competition when the audience judges the entries on the night. Winning images can be seen in our Gallery.
2025 is a major milestone for Britain’s railway and we’re marking this big moment in September, with our own special railway photography competition for Railway 200.
We are now listed in The Railway Club Directory which can be found at www.railwayclubdirectory.com.
The Pennine Railway Society now celebrates over 50 years since its formation. Why not join us and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and outstanding quality of presentations.
